BIRDING IN CAPE TOWN: CAPE PENDULINE TITS – DIMINUTIVE AND DELIGHTFUL in THE WEST COAST

One of the key birds in the West Coast ‘suite’ of target sightings is the acrobatic and warbler-like Cape Penduline Tit, usually found in family groups foraging energetically  in tangles of low scrub while maintaining constant vocal contact with one another.

Such was the case when we came across a pair attending to the dietary needs of their recently fledged young last weekend. While not allowing a close approach we were nevertheless afforded an entertaining half-hour of delightful interactive behaviour as the birds worked their way through the dry coastal thickets around us…
