‘Let us probe the silent places,
let us seek what luck betide us;
Let us journey to a lonely land I know.
There’s a whisper on the night-wind,
there’s a star agleam to guide us,
And the Wild is calling, calling . . . let us go.’

Robert Service ‘The call of the wild’

_19A7994-Edit-3-Edit

Dusky Lark

 A lanky intra-African migrant with a characteristic quirky ‘wing flicking’ walking behaviour, making identification easy and separable from the similar looking ‘spotted’ thrushes found in the sub-region, that arrives at the start of the summer rains.

Dusky Lark

 Favours areas of semi-arid savanna with short grass often encountered foraging in proximity to livestock and ungulates from buffalo through to elephant frequenting the same open habitat.
